How to distinguish quartz stone from granite

Quartz stone has been more and more appeared in the field of architectural decoration based on current stone consumption market in China.  And consumers often will make confusion for artificial granite and quartz stone , that in the end why this situation, today let’s analysis with you:

quartz stone

Let’s take a look at the concept interpretation of these two kinds of stones first

Quartz stone for die-casting plate, with filling material for 93% of the quartz sand and about 7% of the resin synthesis, which does not contain any harmful objects and radiation sources. It’s  known as indoor green decorative stone.

Artificial granite is also known as engineering stone, and the appearance is similar with quartz stone. But the filling material is natural gravel, generally marble crushed material reuse, which is used in outdoor engineering decoration, the price is relatively cheap.

It is difficult for consumers to distinguish when the two kinds of stones are put together. So it often appears granite masquerading as quartz stone examples in the market

So how to distinguish these two kinds of stones?

1, Compare with the weight, quartz stone density is higher than other stone, so the same size of the sample block granite is much lighter.

2, from the side to observe, quartz stone particles are evenly distributed, consistent inside and outside.

3, with clean toilet spirit drops on the surface, the bubbling is granite.  The section of granite is slightly rough, too smooth resin content is high, easy to deformation.

4, quartz stone Mohs hardness up to 7 degrees, and the hardness of granite is generally 4-6 degrees, so there is no way to be harmed by the general iron, that is, quartz stone is harder than granite, scratch resistance and wear resistance than it.

5, quartz stone is with high temperature resistance, there will be no impact on it when the temperature below 300 degrees, and granite, due to containing a lot of resin, so in the case of high temperature, is particularly prone to deformation and performance of burning phenomenon.

So, we can distinguish quartz stone and granite stone by some simple methods, hope this will be helpful for you.
